MCSD Instructional Coaches Academy 2011-2012

December 2011

TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT
As a Muscogee County School District Instructional Coach,

  1. I tend to not take enough time to . . .
  2. I tend to take too much time to . . .
  3. I really like the fact that when I plan, I . . .
Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your job as an instructional coach.  You are a valuable asset to the teachers and students of the MCSD.

  1. 1. Not enough time would be the time I would like to spend more planning with grade level teams.
    2. I haven't identified an area that I take too much time in. I feel at times, I need more time. :)
    3. I can organize and translate best practices across grade levels. It makes my time spent, more useful

  2. Hello, Everyone! Let me take this opportunity to say how much I enjoyed presenting at our Instructional Coaches' Academy during our fall training. The following are my reflections:
    1. I tend to not take enough time to review all of the resources that are offered to us thoroughly. In the future, I plan to spend additional time on this task so that vital information will not go unnoticed.

    2. I tend to take too much time during my one-on-one conferences with teachers. I understand the necessity to "vent/air concerns", but oftentimes it takes away from the business at hand--quality instruction based on the standards.

    3. I really like the fact that when I plan, I tailor the information so that it is "teacher-friendly". Spending years in the classroom has afforded me the opportunity to know that the information that I offer will alleviate some of the cumbersomeness of some of their daily activities.

    Ciao! :)

  3. I tend to not take enough time to plan with the teachers who normally do well. Instead I probably take too much time (although it doesn't seem like enough time) with specific teachers. I have learned that even the teachers who tend to soar like to receive some feedback. I really like the fact that when I plan, the results are obvious, effective, and efficient.

  4. I tend to not take enough time to plan with the primary grade teachers or the teachers that do an exceptional job on a daily basis.
I tend to take too much time in certain classrooms.
I really like the fact that when I plan, I have a goal in mind that will have positive outcomes for our students.

  5. I tend not to take enough time to do paperwork, plan, and organize.
I tend to take too much time researching and developing standards-based resources to help teachers produce engaging lessons, materials, etc.
I really like the fact that when I plan, it reduces the stress of unfinished tasks.

  6. I tend to not take enough time to relax! Our jobs are so important that I find it difficult to put the work down.
I tend to take too much time to get results. I like to see results immediately, and I struggle dealing with the obstacles that prevent progress from happening.
I really like the fact that when I plan, I am thorough. I get input from my trusted colleagues and try my best to provide quality service to others.

  7. 1. I tend to not take enough time to meet with teachers to reflect on training that has been implemented. Teachers briefly comment on how things are going, but rarely do we have time to reflect and reassess our practices.

    2. I don't have an issue with taking too much time in any area. I sometimes struggle with managing my time, I.e. Being Abe to dedicate a sufficient amount of time to all the things that have to be accomplished during the day.

    3. I really like the fact that when I plan, I have a variety of resources, many of which have been supplied by the district.

    1. I tend to not take enough time to eat lunch during the day. Daily, I work on numerous tasks throughout the day. Normally the day has ended before I realize I have not eaten.
    2. I tend to take too much time in meetings. I know that meetings are important; however, I would prefer working with teachers, modeling lessons in my lab classrooms, and completing SMART conferences with the students.
    3. I really like that fact that when I plan, my day and my week have cohesion. I am able to accomplish more.
